Join the dardishi team!

It's an exciting time to be part of dardishi. We're relaunching in the new year and taking on several new (secret!) projects. In the process of expanding our activities, we are recruiting three new editors.

We are delighted to announce that the three new posts are:

Art Editor

Politics Editor

Literature Editor

Why join the dardishi team?

dardishi is an online magazine run by Arab women with a focus on writing and artwork produced by Arab women. Co-founders, editors and sisters Samar and Yasmine Ziadat launched the site on International Women's Day 2016.

The ideas, politics and experiences of Arab women are going largely unarchived. This is, unfortunately, because we live in a time where both Arab and Western media do not represent us. dardishi aims to showcase, support and celebrate the thoughts, feelings and talents of Arab women all over the world.

What will you be doing?

Working with the other editors, you will provide invaluable support to the team, playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth running and success of the publication. Working as part of a team of like-minded Arab women and non-binary people, you'll gain editorial experience and hone your skills in pitching articles and developing creative ideas. You'll also get to meet and collaborate with plenty of amazing people.

Who are we looking for?

• Those who are often marginalised, for example: queer people, working class people, and people with disabilities

• People with an interest in publishing, art, culture, literature, politics, and/or writing

• People who want to develop skills in team work and communication

• People who want to develop experience working in activism, journalism, and/or the art and cultural sectors

What kind of time commitment do we need?

• You will be responsible for commissioning, editing and marketing (at least) one article a month for your section

• You will support the team by editing additional articles that fall under your remit

• You will need to communicate and collaborate regularly with other members of the dardishi team as well as contributors and other participants – this could include managing article pitches received by email, publishing articles to an editorial schedule, taking part in Skype meetings with the editorial team, and time spent planning pieces/features for your section
