Parent Questionnaire

We hope you are able to contribute to our Parent Questionnaire as part of our on-going efforts to seek and act on parents’ views in order to improve our children’s school experience.

How do you know?
Have you been able to come along to parents' evenings, assemblies/church services for parents?

* 2. My child feels safe at Medstead.
How do you know?
Can your child tell you about adults they trust at school?
Who would they talk to if they were worried about anything?
Do they know about our Playground Pals and Oak Buddies?

* 3. My child makes good progress at Medstead and I receive valuable information from the school about my child’s progress.
How useful do you find our report format?
Were you able to attend the meeting your child's new teacher held in September/October as an introduction to the expectations of their new year group?

We have parent teacher meetings in the Autumn and Spring Terms.
Usually we will run a later meeting up until 7pm.
In the Summer term we plan two open classroom opportunities.
The first will be a celebration of the year with your child's current teacher when you will receive their synopsis of the year report and any external assessment results.
The second will be an opportunity to meet your child's new teacher in their next year's classroom.

We operate an “open door” policy to encourage parents to come and talk to us at any time.

How do you know?
For instance are you well informed about what your child is doing at school so that they bring the right equipment on a day to day basis?
Do staff let you know about any significant events or more major injuries which may occur during the school day?
If your child is upset coming into school for any reason, is there someone there to help you?

Are you able to use your child’s class Learning Journey from the Newsletter to begin a conversation with your child about their learning?

How do you know?
Can you access your child's Home learning via our school website?
If not, are you aware you can request a paper copy?
Do you find time to read with your child and comment in their Reading Diary?

* 7. Staff at Medstead make sure  pupils are well behaved.
How do you know?
On visits out and when visitors come to the school, the behaviour of our children is always commended, do you agree from what you see and hear out on the playground before and after school or what your child says about school?

Can your child explain our balloon, clouds and ladder visual behaviour system?

* 8. I feel confident that staff at Medstead deal effectively, or would deal effectively, with any difficulties my child may be experiencing.
How do you know?
If children or parents are worried at Medstead, we work together to resolve friendship issues, ascertain if there may be any bullying behaviours being exhibited, agree strategies and continue to monitor the situation closely.

* 9. Medstead is a well led and managed school and I would recommend it to other parents.
Do you appreciate staff being on duty before and after school?
Governors contribute significantly to the strategic leadership of the school. Do you know which parents are Governors?
Every teacher is a leader in their own right. and our Leadership Team involves senior members of staff including Ms Oborn, Mr Hunt, Mrs Hickey, Mrs Burningham, Mrs Bennett and Mrs Brench.
Mrs Crook and Mr Hill lead our Deaf Provision.
Many of our Learning Support Assistants also take on leadership in certain areas such as the Library, Young Journalists group.
Do you feel newsletters communicate a strong school ethos and keep you abreast of developments?
Are the Office Staff helpful and friendly?

Have you been able to speak to a member of staff in a timely manner about anything which concerns you or you are unsure of?
