Background

The PPM toolkit was commissioned from the Department of Health and Social Care to NHS Employers and Skills for Care in 2014. The purpose of the toolkit is to be a one-stop advice shop for managers and employers on effective performance management of staff, to help identify and reduce underperformance. It has since been regularly updated with the latest developments and resource for performance management.

Given the context of the NHS People Plan, the People Promise, and the changes in how teams operate following the COVID-19 pandemic, a task and finish group has been established to guide a redesign of the toolkit.

The purpose of this survey is to identify how employers in health and social care and beyond use the toolkit currently and how it can be improved to best meet your needs as managers.

The information collected will be processed via SurveyMonkey, on behalf of the NHS Confederation and shared within the NHS Confederation and with NHS England and NHS Improvement.
