Festival Fortnight brings together a mixture of sport, cultural, academic, social and recreational events and activities. Co-ordinated by LEAP Sports Scotland, the festival aims to increase the visibility and participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people in Scottish sport. The festival also provides opportunities to raise awareness of LGBTI issues within sport and creates spaces to examine wider equality, inclusion and human rights issues within the world of sport and physical activity.

This year's Festival Fortnight will take place from 1st - 14th June and the programme is already beginning to fill. We want to see lots of grassroots activities across the country for LGBTI people to get involved in.  To help make this happen, this small grants scheme allows sports groups and community groups, a small resource (typically around £80-£200) to put on an event.
To get your creative juices flowing, some ideas include:
  • Having a 'come and try', ‘taster’ or ‘open night’ to encourage people to come along.
  • Organising a sports day, challenge event, exhibition or tournament.
  • Putting on a cultural event such as a film night, play or show.
Check out what others have done here to get some inspiration.

Events should fall into one of the following areas:
  1. Supporting the development of LGBTI sports groups or leaders.
  2. Activities which improve the lives of LGBTI people by increasing their access to sport.
  3. Using sport to grow LGBTI activism or to grow new grassroots sports initiatives.
  4. Bring LGBTI people in rural communities together through sport.
  5. Examining LGBTI equality or LGBTIphobia in sport.
  6. Exploring intersections between LGBTI people and other identities in sport.
  7. Celebrating LGBTI communities within sport.

What will you do?  Continue with this questionnaire to tell us what event you would like to run and apply for a grant.

If you do not need a grant, please list your event here.
