Falkirk FC EGM Supporters Poll

In advance of the forthcoming EGM of Falkirk Football Club shareholders, we also wish to gauge the perspective of the wider Falkirk fan base.

The EGM was called on 3rd June and therefore relates to the Board at that time, consisting of Craig Campbell, Margaret Lang, Martin Ritchie, Lex Miller, Andy Thomson and Kieran Koszary.

In calling the EGM we referred to the Board statement of 1st June, which stated that “Falkirk Football Club is gearing itself up for the most extensive period of change since the 1998 provisional liquidation". The statement continued “In the next two weeks we’ll bring you announcements on ownership and on management change…we are now confident there will be a change of ownership in the near future". As a result, plans for a ‘root and branch’ review of the Board were put on hold.

Given the magnitude of these matters and their implications for the long-term future of our club, it is imperative that all supporters have full confidence in the Board, and in their ability to act in the best interests of the club, in making these decisions. Given events over the past two years, we are concerned that this may not be the case. As a consequence, we requested that the following resolution be moved at the meeting:

“We, the shareholders in Falkirk Football and Athletic Club Limited, have no confidence in the Board of Directors and in their ability to act in the best interests of the company and club”.

As pretext to a shareholders’ vote, we requested a full explanation from the Board on each of the following matters:

1.       Their decision to close the Forth Valley Academy.

2.       Their management of Paul Hartley and Richard Mitchell’s recruitment of players.

3.       Their recruitment of Ray McKinnon plus coaching staff from Greenock Morton FC, the subsequent ruling by the SPFL tribunal and the compensation paid directly to Morton.

4.       Their failure to bring a fully developed Fan Ownership proposal back to an EGM in April, as per the timescales unanimously approved by shareholders at the AGM in December 2018.

Given that over 1000 Falkirk fans pledged to support the ‘Back the Bairns’ fan ownership proposal, we feel it’s important to hear the views of all supporters, including those who are not currently shareholders. If you would like to make your views known please complete the attached poll. The poll is open to all Falkirk fans.
