You are invited to take part in a research study which aims to explore experiences of seeking romantic partners on online dating websites. This study is being conducted by Dr Chris Fullwood, Emma Boultwood (University of Wolverhampton) and Dr Masa Popovac (University of Buckingham). In order to be eligible to participate you should either be currently using online dating sites or have used them within the last six months. If you choose to take part in this study you will be required to give electronic consent by clicking 'next' at the bottom of the screen. The study requires you to complete a series of questionnaires which will include: general questions about your online dating behaviour and duration of use; the characteristics that you find preferable in potential romantic partners; and a number of personality questionnaires. It is important that you respond honestly. The survey should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete.

Please note you must be aged 18 or over to take part in this study. Once you have completed all of the questionnaires you will be debriefed about the aims of this research. All data collected will be anonymous and treated with the strictest of confidentiality. At no point will you be required to provide identifying information about yourself such as your name. Participation is entirely voluntary, however if you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw at any time without any adverse consequences by exiting the survey. Please note that once you submit your data at the end of the study, you will no longer be able to withdraw your contribution from the study. The online survey tool will record your IP address to avoid duplication. No identifying information will be requested so you will not be identified from your IP address. When the data is downloaded, this information will be removed and your responses will be anonymous. All raw data will be securely stored. Electronic data will be kept in password protected data files only accessible to the main researchers. The data collected for this study may be written up as a manuscript for academic publication. If the manuscript is published, then the data will be destroyed five years from the date of publication. The Wolverhampton University Research Ethics Committee have granted ethical approval for this study.
