Housing Need Survey for Local Businesses on Exmoor
Have your say!
Please complete this survey about what housing may be needed to help your business
Closing date: 3rd August 2018
The Exmoor Rural Housing Network would like to hear your views as a local employer and explore whether the supply of local housing may be affecting your business and its ability to function optimally. The results will provide much needed information for our communities to continue to survive over the longer term. The information collected from this survey will supplement the evidence of housing need (such as parish housing need surveys) used to assess the need for local affordable homes in settlements across Exmoor and the potential for future housing schemes.
The Exmoor Rural Housing Network is a partnership of local organisations and individuals across Exmoor with the common concern of helping local people find suitable and affordable housing on Exmoor. Sue Southwell is the Network Coordinator. Please encourage staff in housing need to contact Sue if they would like to discuss their housing situation.
If you would like to discuss the survey and what it means for your business please contact Sue on 01392 248919 or email sue@devoncommunities.org.uk.
Confidentiality and Data Protection:

No data will be published which can identify an individual unless you expressly ask for your individual views to be shared.
What do we mean by affordable housing?
SHARED OWNERSHIP - people with a household income up to £80,000 buy a share in their home (between 25%-75% of the home's value) and pay rent on the remaining share to a housing association.
SHARED EQUITY - similar to shared ownership, but while housing association owns the remaining share, the purchaser does not pay rent.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR RENT – tenants pay a percentage of market rent to a housing association or similar organisation.
DISCOUNT MARKET HOMES - purchasers buy a home at a discount below the open market cost. This tends to be linked to a multiplier of household income in order to ensure it is affordable.
RENT TO BUY – working households with an income up to £80,000 rent a newly built home at around 20% below the market rate for up to five years with the option to buy within this time. They must be first time buyers or returning to the market following a relationship breakdown.
SELF-BUILD / CUSTOM BUILD – individuals or groups are involved in the construction their homes. Self-build normally involves some form of ownership but can also be used to provide rented housing. Individuals must have an affordable housing need to be eligible for an affordable self-build home.
