Comedians' Network Low Pay No Pay Survey |
Equity Comedians' Network Survey on Low / No Pay Gigs
Following release of the Equity Comedians’ Network Manifesto on Low or No Pay Gigs the Network now wish to find out from comedians which promoters or venues are of the greatest concern and are asking for your assistance.
PLEASE NOTE THIS SURVEY IS COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS. IF YOU CHOOSE TO STATE YOUR NAME IT WILL NOT BE DISCLOSED TO ANY PROMOTER, VENUE OR FELLOW ARTIST.
We are asking you to supply information confidentially about promoters or comedy venues that you’ve worked for where either:-
- The fee was far below usual professional rates or there was no fee
- The fee was based on a door split or bucket collection but the division was not transparent or seemed unfair
- You were required to sell a number of tickets in order to perform
- You were required to bring audience members in order to perform
- The gig was said to be for charity but it was not left to discretion whether comedians’ fees were donated to the cause

We would also like information about promoters and venues that have offered work on the above basis but you have turned it down.
Following the collection of this information it is intended that Equity officials and / or members of the Equity Comedians’ Network working group will approach the promoters or venues whose names have come up the most in comedians’ responses.
If you are not an Equity member then you can still complete the survey and we hope you will consider joining. You can email Mike Day for more information on mday@equity.org.uk.
The survey will close on Friday 24th February 2017.
Thank you for your participation.
