Introduction

Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council wants to hear residents’ views about priorities for our area’s future, as we seek to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for our community.

The Town Council is developing a Neighbourhood Plan – covering Borehamwood, Elstree village and all areas in between.

The Neighbourhood Plan will contain planning policies which, once agreed by the community, will sit alongside the Hertsmere Borough Council Local Plan policies and will help to guide planning applications and how land is used in our area over the next 15 to 20 years.

Whilst we can’t use the plan to stop development, we can have a direct say in what that development will look like, how it is designed and what sort of infrastructure we believe should be delivered alongside it, for instance playgrounds, footpaths and other community facilities.

The Neighbourhood Plan Survey is an important opportunity for you to tell us what you think about our heritage, open spaces and priorities for the future, and to express your views on a number of other matters related to our community.

We have an opportunity to protect valued areas of green space, improve local biodiversity, encourage walking and cycling, support local businesses and the town and village centres, and mitigating climate change.

We will also be seeking to influence what sort of housing is delivered locally, so that it is meeting the needs of our community.

Your views will help us to develop Neighbourhood Plan that is right for Elstree and Borehamwood.

Please answer as many questions as you feel able to respond to. Feel free to continue your answers on separate sheets of paper. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact: cllr.clive.butchins@elstreeborehamwood-tc.gov.uk or 07930 325965.
