Introduction

Dorking BID has been in existence since 2017. Working on behalf of the 340+ eligible businesses. The BID's primary  objectives have been to:

- To get all groups working together and cohesively towards a common goal – a prosperous Dorking.
- To give all visitors and employees a warm welcome, a brilliant experience and a reason to keep coming back.
- To raise the profile of Dorking and put it back on the map for local, national and international visitors and businesses
- To work towards long term goals with a secure income to ensure the economic and operational resilience of Dorking over time.
Operated through a not-for-profit Company, the Dorking Town Partnership, is has a Board of Directors (drawn from local business representatives who work on a voluntary basis) Dorking BID has been driven by the private sector, with the belief that local businesses, working together, will have a more influential voice in shaping the future of our town.

Over £200,000 per annum is currently collected and this funds all our work. Additionally, it has allowed us to raise further income, about £19,000 to be spent on the projects you asked for.

BIDs are required to vote every 5 years and Dorking will come to an end in April 2022 unless the majority of businesses vote YES to continue it for another 5 years. If it comes to an end all current activity will stop this year.

To secure another term we need to stage a ballot in June 2022 and produce a new 5- year Business Plan on which eligible businesses will vote on. Your feedback to this survey will help shape the new Business Plan.

In the wake of COVID-19 and with our business environments ever more fragile, continuing to work in partnership, supporting one another and promoting our town centre and managing it well remains vital.
