    management and treatment of medical emergencies
    in the dental surgery.

Objective:
gain knowledge: -
    of the causes and prevention of Cardio-respiratory
    arrest.
    regarding the importance of early recognition of
    the critically ill patient.
    of the systematic approach to recognising the acutely
    ill patient - the ABCDE approach.
    algorithms for the management the acutely ill patient.   
    of the emergency drugs that should be available in
    a dental setting which is providing conscious sedation.
    on how to deal with the management of medical
    emergencies in the dental surgery.
    of various exam techniques tips and tricks.

Learning outcomes:
have knowledge of:-
    causes and prevention of Cardio-respiratory arrest.
    the ABCDE - the systematic approach to recognising       
    the acutely ill patient and the guidelines regarding
    the management of the acutely ill patient .  
    which emergency drugs that should be available in
    a dental setting which is providing conscious sedation.
    how to deal with the management of medcal 
    emergencies in relation to e.g.stroke, faint,                 
    hypoglycaemia, epilepsy, mild and severe allergic
    reactions, anaphylactic reactions, angina pectoris,
    asthma.
    know when and how to insert oro-pharyngeal airways.
    how to best prepare for the exam.
