Be Free! is a five month personal leadership programme in Islington for adults who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. It is being co-ordinated by Freedom Works UK. At least 8 of the 12 places will be allocated to BAME participants.
Be Free! is a five month personal leadership programme in Islington for adults who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. It is being co-ordinated by Freedom Works UK. At least 8 of the 12 places will be allocated to BAME participants.
Our main aim is to help each participant achieve an important outcome that they are committed to. For example, exploring a new career path, getting a new job or volunteering, taking the first steps in starting a new business, or adapting and growing an existing business.
The programme will help participants to:

- reach their potential and feel more confident in their abilities
- develop self-care and personal effectiveness strategies to manage their wellbeing and thrive;
- develop their leadership, communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills through volunteering;
- support others who are struggling;
- gain experience of volunteering or leading a small-scale community project;
- adapt to changing life and work situations, with practical job-related skills and increased emotional and financial resilience.
The programme will consist of 10 bi-weekly group coaching workshops with 1:1 support over five months from November 2020 to March 2021. The workshops will be held in line with government and public health guidance. Currently it is our aim to deliver the main bi-weekly workshops face-to-face with social distancing and hygiene measures.
The programme is supported by funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund. This is helping us to deliver the project and make places on the course free to participants.
Application and selection
Due to the limited number of places on this programme, we cannot guarantee you a place on this course. We have a selection process (an application form and interview) to select candidates who will be most suited to the course:

- We will be looking for participants who can demonstrate a level of personal commitment to their project or outcome, as well as a commitment to helping other people in their community.
