Make a difference - help decide what research gets done about
charities and donors

We are doing a project to identify the topics on which charities, donors and funders would most like additional research: the goal is to influence researchers to then produce that material.
Over the summer, we consulted with charities (registered, non-registered and exempt), voluntary and community organisations, community-interest companies, churches and faith-based organisations, funders, foundations, individual donors and social enterprises.

We asked: what evidence, information and data do you need? What research could help you?

They gave us many suggestions. We have grouped and summarised them into 49 questions. They include questions about measuring impact, efficiency, volunteer management, communication, collaborations and governance. The task now is to see which ones charities and donors would like prioritised.

What are we asking you to do?

We need you to select the questions that most matter to you from the list of 49 questions. In this survey you will be asked to:

  • Read through the list and tick all the questions that you would like research to address.
  • From your selection, choose up to 10 top priorities.
This survey will take around 10 minutes to complete.

Why are we doing this?

We want to give you (charities, donors and funders) a louder voice in research. We want to make sure that research answers the questions that matter most to the people it intends to study and to help.

What will happen to my choices?

We’ll take the questions with the most votes forward to a workshop, at which up to 30 representatives of charities, foundations and donors will agree the top priorities for research.  These will be published and promoted to funders, donors, charities and researchers.
