Background

Cuilcagh to Cleenish (C2C) began in November 2018 with the aim of enhancing community development by raising awareness and appreciation of the area's built, cultural, archaeological and natural heritage, and to develop a suite of community trails to link local people to heritage sites in the landscape.

Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the C2C project will finish in September 2021.  Its final legacy action is to explore the potential for the development and delivery of similar community-led heritage activities within a 10-mile radius around Cuilcagh Mountain, so that it can be a connected landscape where local people are proud of their history and culture and are active in creating sustainable development for the area.  This engagement process is being led by the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark and supported by the C2C Management Committee.

Survey

Insight Solutions has been appointed to lead on an engagement process with local communities around Cuilcagh Mountain to:

- Empower local communities to identify what is unique regarding their landscape, heritage and culture;
- Explore the willingness within local communities to collaborate in delivering on shared heritage projects; and
- Develop a 3-5 year programme delivery plan which will help local communities promote and conserve heritage in their areas.

This is a unique opportunity to suggest ideas or activities which will promote, preserve and celebrate the heritage and culture of your community around Cuilcagh Mountain, enhance local rural community development by connecting people to their built, natural, cultural and archaeological heritage, and promote this cross-border area as a cultural destination where people are attracted to visit and explore.  Local communities will have the opportunity to play a leading role in shaping and delivering the outworking of this engagement.

We invite you to contribute to this work via this survey, which will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.  The survey will close on 15th September 2021.

Please note, there are also online consultations about the proposal running on the 9th, 13th and 15th September 2021.  Information on how to take part can be found at www.c2c.org.uk

We thank you for your input and look forward to your response.
