Introduction

NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) would like to gain the views of patients about the dermatology services you currently receive and what matters most to you about your care. This will help to inform our work to review current provision and ensure our future provision meets the needs of our patients.

In Coventry, GPs can refer patients with minor dermatological conditions to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), where they will be seen at the City of Coventry Health Centre, or at the main UHCW site (the “Walsgrave” site). This means there are no services in place which meet the British Association of Dermatology definition of “community facilities based”. Patients do not have a choice of local clinics, may therefore need to travel further, and experience longer waits for service.

Extending the Community Dermatology Service to cover Coventry will add three new locations in the Coventry city area from which dermatology services will be delivered. Dermatology services provided by UHCW will continue and patients can choose to be referred there if that is their preference.

Currently there is no community-based service commissioned in Rugby and patients referred by their GP as needing minor dermatology care have to travel to either Coventry or Nuneaton to receive treatment. Extending the Community Dermatology Service to cover Rugby means there will be a new location in Rugby from which dermatology services will be delivered.
