Coppull currently has a  Designated Public Places Orders (DPPO's) in place which restricts street drinking in public places. The DPPOs are due to expire in October 2017 so the Council is asking members of the public if they should use the new Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPO) under the Anti-social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 to continue restrictions on alcohol consumption in these areas.

Chorley Council has launched a consultation on the use of PSPOs which are designed to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a particular area  that is detrimental to the local community's quality of life, by imposing conditions on the use of that area which apply to everyone.

A PSPO is designed to make public spaces more welcoming to the majority of law abiding people and communities. A PSPO is designed to stop individuals or groups committing anti-social behaviour in a public space.  Under the PSPO it would be an offence, without reasonable excuse, to fail to comply with a request by an authorised officer, for example a Police Officer, to cease drinking or surrender alcohol.

A copy of the order and Map can be found here in the 'Download it' section

residents, visitors and businesses to be important in this matter and a period of consultation will run for 4 weeks 3rd July - 13th   September 2017
