We are Contact Scotland, the charity for families with disabled children in Scotland. We support families, bring families together and help families take action for others.
Contact want to be able to support families of disabled children in Scotland the way they tell us they want to be supported. We already do this in lots of ways, through our helpline, our resources and information guides, workshops for parent carers, campaigning to change legislation that families tell us isn’t working for them, and by supporting local support groups and linking families together.
Back in 2015, we surveyed the support groups that we work with. Now we are reaching out to support groups again, to find out if anything has changed, and what support groups' needs are.
Going forward, we would like to make our support offer to families led by local need. We want to do this by working in partnership with existing support groups in local areas so that we complement what is already happening.
