Scotland's Census

Scotland’s Census is run by National Records of Scotland (NRS) every 10 years, and collects information on households and individuals in Scotland.

The census collects information about a range of topics, including housing, languages, jobs, marital status and ethnicity. The answers given to the census questions are used to produce anonymous data and statistics that play a vital role in shaping Scotland's future. Census data are used in social, economic, and health research, and are often combined with other data sets to produce further insight and understanding.
The next census in Scotland is in 2021.
