HOW TO TAKE PART

We are looking for people who have a stories to share about loved ones who died from Covid-19 in the UK.
Artist and composer Emily Peasgood is creating a new musical artwork (with lyrics by Kate Lynn-Devere) produced by Illuminate Productions. Emily Peasgood has previously created two artworks that explore grief and loss: Halfway to Heaven (2017) and Requiem for Crossbones. This new artwork will acknowledge and commemorate the many lives lost through the Covid-19 Pandemic. It will take inspiration from your words and stories to provide a meaningful legacy for our loved ones. Touring locations across the United Kingdom, it will feature music, singing and visuals.

To help us create this meaningful work, we would like to hear from people living in the UK who lost someone in the Covid-19 Pandemic.

We would love you to share a special story about your loved one, in whatever way you are most comfortable. This could be in the form of a love letter, a poem, written text, a voice recording or a video recording. You can tell us anything at all. Or maybe you have a special object that reminds you of a loved one, and you’d like to tell us about that.

We don’t expect you to be a writer, voice actor, or filmmaker. We just want you to tell your story in whatever way is best for you. If you need help to get started, we have provided some prompts below:

  • What is your favourite memory of time you spent together?
  • What do you miss most about your lost loved one?
  • Describe their character, their quirky traits, their kindness or their personality
  • If you could say one more thing to them, what would you say?

Please note, the deadline for sending your story is 15th December 2022.

What will happen with my story?

Please note that by participating in this project you give permission for us to use your stories, words, phrases, poems and images within the artwork. If you wish to remain anonymous, please clearly state with your submission. We may not use all stories, but all we receive will inspire us.
