What are smart buildings? How can they help improve the energy efficiency of Europe's building stock?
New challenges are arising on smart buildings and smart metering. Smart Buildings are still unknown to many, and definitions could be both clearer and more commonly shared. The CA EPBD has taken the opportunity to discuss this topic during the open side event in Valletta, where experts from industry, academia and the European Commission will discuss these questions during a public event in the Corinthia Hotel, the day before the CA IV EPBD plenary meeting starts. Some of the latest research and innovation in smart buildings will be presented in the context of European policies, notably the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which is undergoing a review.
