Hillfoots voluntary organisation survey |
About this consultation
About the project:
The project is funded by the EDF Burnfoot Hill Community Fund, a charitable Fund set up by EDF, the developer of the Burnfoot Hill, Burnfoot North Wind and Rhodders Wind Farms. The Fund has made grants for community activities in Menstrie, Alva, Tillicoultry and Dollar since 2011. Funding decisions are made by a local Community Panel, with assessments carried out by Foundation Scotland who also administer the fund and all the grantmaking.
The Panel has noted that very few of the grants made since 2011 have reached projects or organisations that work with young people aged 10 -18 years and as a result the Panel wishes to better understand the needs and aspirations of young people in relation to their home communities.
The project will engage a team of young people to lead the research and engage their peers to get involved.
The first phase of the project (May-July 2016) focuses on developing a profile of provision for young people in the area gathering relevant data and stakeholder views. The second phase (August – November 2016) will involve the recruitment of the young person’s steering group that will then lead into an intense period of community engagement amongst 10 -18 year olds in the villages covered by the Fund. The steering group will design the research, map and record their communities and engage their peers to get involved. The final output will be recommendations to the Panel around potential new activities and supports for 10 – 18 year olds, proposals for young people having a voice and an ability to influence what happens in their community.
Stakeholder feedback:
As part of the Stage 1 process we are keen to find out what voluntary sector or privately run services are currently on offer for young people in the Hillfoots area and to gather feedback from voluntary organisations. It would be really helpful if you can complete this short survey. It covers what you currently do, what you think is good about local provision and what could be improved, your views on local needs, barriers and opportunities.
If you provide your contact details we will keep you informed of progress with this project. In the meantime, please contact us if you would like any further information or are keen to engage in more depth.
Thank you for your time and help.
