The purpose of the RBG Buddy Scheme is to provide appropriate aged support to children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
The service should act as an in-between for the child/young person and personal assistant (PA) or support worker. The organisation will not employ directly any of the PAs but will offer a creative way for parents/carers/ young people to choose and connect with an age and interest-appropriate PA.
For the purposes of this questionnaire the term personal assistant refers to a support worker.
Examples of the support that the personal assistant can offer:
Accessing services in the community such as leisure and social activities
Correspondence and paperwork
Attending doctor and hospital appointment
Escorting to community events, day trips and outings
Help you with medication
Work, training and educational activities
Mobility in your home and in the wider community
Accessing necessary facilities and making use of public transport
Supporting family carers when they need respite or break from their caring role
This short survey aims to find out how you would like the Buddy Scheme to work.
We need the views of as many parents as possible so that we can get a really good picture of how you want the scheme to operate.
This information will be used by the Royal Borough of Greenwich when they commission the Buddy Scheme.
The survey will take 5 minutes to complete or longer if you'd like to make more detailed comments. Thanks for giving us your views.
