What this communication is all about and why we need your help
On behalf of Bridgend County Borough Council we are undertaking a consultation to review opportunities for tourism industry representation and communication in Bridgend County Borough. In light of exciting future developments and the potential opportunities that may provide for tourism businesses, it is important we get this right.
You might be aware that the Bridgend Tourism Association ceased trading earlier this year, despite the best efforts of a dedicated number of volunteer directors. It provided its members and other stakeholders with a range of business support, information and product development opportunities.
The BTA also provided local industry representation on the South East Wales Tourism Forum and the Bridgend Destination Partnership. The destination management model which is supported by Welsh Government is predicated on having a strong representative trade body in place. There is therefore, a current gap in representation and communication.
Following initial discussions with key stakeholders, we feel there are number of model options for the future and are hoping to determine a consensus on a suitable option. It is extremely important that we have your input on how this can be achieved.
