Listen and Respond

Take a moment to read and pray the story of Bartimaeus, so that the healing of this man was blind helps us to see where the Holy Spirit is guiding us as we reflect together on our journey.

Whether reflecting on this scripture passage alone or in a group, please use the following basic format:

  • Take a moment of prayer or silence.
  • Read the Bible passage and reflect on what strikes you.
  • Respond to the questions.
  • Type in what you would like us to hear.

If you are in a group, please listen gracefully to one another. Do not be afraid of opposing perspectives.
When typing your responses, you can either agree a paragraph that includes everyone's contribution or submit the different responses given.

At the end of the listening exercise we have a couple of questions about your group so we know how many people we are listening to and where in the diocese they are from.

Thank you for joining Our Journey Together.
Let us pray

We stand before You, Holy Spirit,
as we gather together in Your name.

With You alone to guide us,
make Yourself at home in our hearts;

Teach us the way we must go
and how we are to pursue it.

We are weak and sinful;
do not let us promote disorder.

Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path
nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity
so that we may journey together to eternal life
and not stray from the way of truth
and what is right.

All this we ask of You,
who are at work in every place and time,
in the communion of the Father and the Son,
forever and ever. Amen
