My name is Rob Blagden. I am pursuing a Masters degree in Digital Health Leadership at Imperial College London. I am conducting a research study for my dissertation. The study aims to examine how to improve BYOD implementation in the NHS.

This survey has 10 questions and should take you less than 5 minutes to complete.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary. Your identity as a participant will remain confidential at all times. If you have any questions about this study or your possible participation, please contact me at rob@blagden.net. If you are happy to participate please continue >>>

What is BYOD?

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is the idea of allowing employees to use their own equipment for work purposes. For example some staff are accessing NHS email on their personal smartphone. For my MSc study project I am researching the use of BYOD in the NHS and am keen to gather your views.

Some people think allowing staff to use their own devices at work makes them more efficient because they are used to how the device works and it allows increased creativity. There is research that suggests BYOD could make an employer more attractive in recruiting and retaining the workforce. Others believe it presents a risk around data security and confuses the boundary between work and personal life. Depending on the approach some think it could make IT support more difficult. If you used your own device it could mean you have less devices to carry and generate environmental benefit because one less device would be required. In using your own device your employer may need to install monitoring security software to protect work data which some people don't like.

What do you think?

This survey explores your views to help me understand things like:
What do you think about accessing patient data on your personal phone?
Should your employer compensate you for using your own device?
Does keeping work and personal life separate matter to you?

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
