It is estimated that 1 in 5 people in Cornwall have been exposed to suicide in the last 10 years. 'Exposed' means that we have lost someone we know, be they a friend, parent, spouse, sibling, child, family member or colleague.
Losing someone to suicide can be a deeply personal experience, one that we often find difficult to share our feelings about. It can effect us as individuals, and our families and friends, in unique ways. Sometimes we may find it hard to talk, or feel that other people don't know how to talk to us about it.
This survey has been written by people with lived experience of loss by suicide. We are asking for feedback about your experiences of accessing support after your loss.
There are no right or wrong answers, and you do not have to answer all the questions if you do not want to. Any feedback you provide will help us to shape and improve support for people in Cornwall who have lost someone to suicide, as currently NHS support is extremely limited, and the voluntary & community sector is desperately under-funded.
Through Sunrise we aim to provide safe spaces; events, workshops and activities for people with shared experience of suicide loss, to help one another.
We will create a community, positively support health and wellbeing, raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding suicide.
Thank you, The Sunrise Team xx
