Consultation: Temporary Town Centre pedestrianisation

Wantage Town Council has made some temporary changes to the Western end of the Market Place between Barclays Bank and The King Alfred’s Head and is putting forward a proposal for further pedestrianisation . These are in order to make some safe welcoming spaces and comply with new Statutory Guidance from Government. This guidance focuses on creating safer trading environments for businesses and public as well as greater provision for pedestrians and cyclists in order to provide for better opportunities for social distancing.

The implemented scheme has also given the hospitality outlets an opportunity to provide outside seating in this area and the proposed scheme hopes to build on this. We would like you to answer questions about the temporary changes that have been implemented and the proposed changes. The results of the survey will be used to assist the council in understanding public opinion on pedestrianisation scheme and changes that may be needed to make further improvements and refinements.

The details of the scheme can be found at this location: https://wantagetowncouncil.gov.uk/ under Wantage News.
