Please tell us about your experiences of how the Scottish climate affects your workplace

The Scottish Trade Unions movement recognizes that the climate crisis is both a health and safety and a social justice issue. Those who have done least to cause the crisis, and who are least able to address it, are facing the worst impacts. This is especially true in the workplace; in the last year we have seen that existing health and safety provisions in the workplace are not sufficiently agile in the face of a fast-moving crisis and that low paid and front-line workers are particularly vulnerable.

There is a need to make sure that Scotland's workers and workplaces increase their resilience to the changing climate before the brunt of the crisis hits. To this end Adaptation Scotland is working together with UNISON Scotland and other interested trade unionists on a joint project with the STUC, to develop resources to support workplace adaptation to climate risks that focuses on the needs and wellbeing of workers.
