This survey is part of a research study I am conducting as a candidate for a Doctorate in Psychotherapy by Professional Studies at the Metanoia Institute/Middlesex University.

The survey focuses on how we are impacted by the stories told to us during our counselling and psychotherapy training. Story can include anything from metaphor and myth to clinical anecdote and case study.

If you’re a therapist, I’d like to find out what type of stories moved, inspired and resonated deeply with you. Which stories had the most impact on your learning and your clinical practice – and why?

And if you’re a counselling and psychotherapy lecturer, tutor or trainer: how do you use stories to inform how you teach? Which are your best stories – and why?

Your answers will help to understand and develop the power of storytelling as a teaching device within counselling and psychotherapy training.

The project received ethical approval by the Metanoia Programme Research Ethics Committee in September 2021.

Completion of this questionnaire is deemed to be your consent to participate in this research.

Thank you for taking part in the survey.
