Cardiff Institute for the Blind (CIB) Re-brand Consultation Survey 2018
CIB Re-brand Consultation
Cardiff Institute for the Blind are consulting with our service-users and partners on the possibility of changing our name. We know our name is an increasing barrier to supporting more people and gaining much needed income to deliver services.
More and more people we speak to are saying they don’t want our support or don’t feel eligible for our support because they think we just help people who are blind with no sight.
People are also put off by the ‘Institute’ part of our name, thinking we are an old fashioned organisation or that we are a residential home for the blind and partially sighted.
We work across South Wales and so the ‘Cardiff’ part of our name is not really accurate and causes confusion when we want to deliver services and agree partnership contracts and funding.
As a subsidiary of RNIB, we also use the RNIB name in places such as Swansea and Rhondda Cynon Taf. Whilst we are an associate of RNIB, that isn’t our charity name and it does not feel clear and transparent to our Service Users.
We believe the cost of changing our name would be small and that we would get more income with a modern and more relevant name.
We know that changing our name is a big decision and we will only change it if we are sure it is the right thing to do for blind and partially sighted people.
With that in mind, we want your help to decide whether it is right to change our name at this time and if it is, what name might give us the greatest impact possible.
The following questions should take about 10 minutes to complete. Please contact us on 02920398900 if you would like to complete the questionnaire in Welsh or in an alternative format.
