Abstract Submission Form

We believe in making space at our conference for you to share and learn from each other.

So if you are involved in children’s palliative care in any setting and would like to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation or lead a workshop session, we would love to hear from you. We are especially keen to hear about any innovative approaches, evaluations of service development, new developments in clinical care and family support, pilot studies or research projects. Abstracts are invited from professionals from all disciplines and backgrounds and from the statutory and voluntary sectors. We are keen to have a wide range of content that reflects the breadth of the children’s palliative care sector.

All abstracts should be based on one of the following themes:
  1. Perspectives on the strengths and successes of the sector as well as the barriers that it faces and what actions need to be taken to overcome these.
  2. New and innovative service models that ensure awareness and access to children’s palliative care for children and families from demographic groups that are underrepresented in caseloads – including those from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and areas of high deprivation.
  3. New and innovative service models that ensure seriously ill children and their families can access palliative care in the community out of hours and at weekends, for example models that reduce unplanned, emergency admissions to acute settings and/or help facilitate earlier discharges – and how they have proven that they have had that impact.
  4. How children’s palliative care services can make the most of limited resources, including deploying children’s palliative care professionals as effectively as possible amid workforce shortages.
  5. Approaches to educating generalist professionals and/or those working in other clinical specialities so that they understand what children’s palliative care is, how to talk to families about it, and how and when to refer children and families to core and specialist children’s palliative care services.
  6. What's new in professional and joined-up multi-disciplinary practice in the context of increasingly complex clinical needs of children and emotional, social and spiritual needs of families, including siblings. This includes new developments in particular areas such as perinatal care, transition and Advance Care Planning.
  7. Findings from recent research, including action that is being taken to build research capacity across the sector and to define and measure positive outcomes in children's palliative care.
  8. Innovative approaches to making children’s palliative care ‘everybody’s business’.
