Broadwood Active Travel Hub Questionnaire |
What Is the Broadwood Active Travel Hub?
We are undertaking a feasibility study to look at the possibility of Broadwood becoming a Low Carbon Active Travel Hub. Our aim is to encourage people to cycle and walk in a safe, well-lit area and thereby gain the confidence to cycle and walk more extensively. As well as improving fitness, health and wellbeing this would be beneficial to the environment by promoting low carbon travel and reducing car use.
What Facilities and Services may be included on site?
The Project will examine the possibility of:
· Building a 1km fully lit closed road cycle circuit.
· Building a second fully lit cycle circuit for those with mixed abilities and disabilities.
· Offering learn to cycle courses for all ages, including road cycling instruction.
· Providing a bike recycling, hire and maintenance facility on site.
· Establishing a cycling and walking information hub.
· Assessing additional lighting needs around Broadwood Loch.
· Improving cycle links to Croy station and the Forth and Clyde canal.
What are the aims of the Project?
· Provide a safe well-lit environment for cycling and walking.
· Build skills and confidence to cycle and walk more extensively.
· Improve health, fitness and wellbeing.
· Encourage active travel (by bicycle or on foot) to work, school or to local bus and railway stations.
