On a number of occasions, we have heard of instances where emergency vehicles could not access a Traveller site in an emergency. This may be because the gate was too small or locked (often by councils). In other cases, access to Traveller sites was delayed because an emergency service had to wait for unnecessary police back-up.  These setbacks could mean that people in need of life-saving treatment are unable to receive it or face a serious delay.

We want to hear from people who have been affected by this issue, or are aware of instances like this. Our aim is to help strengthen health and safety in planning, and to develop clear guidance for emergency vehicles visiting Traveller sites. We want to help people get access to the emergency service that they need without unnecessary delays.

Are you aware of any instances of emergency services being unable to attend a site during an emergency? If so, please complete the survey below.

Everyone who takes part in this survey will automatically be entered into a prize draw for a voucher worth £50 for the shop of your choice.
