Cost of living and inflation
With inflation at its highest in 40 years, the cost of living is having an immediate effect on people's lives. Recent analysis by the New Economics Foundation (NEF) found that by October on average three quarters of households (21 million) will see the cost of living outpace incomes.
Inflation is also having an impact on charities and community groups, with the value of grants decreasing over time as inflation eats into what can be bought with the funding.
And foundations are not immune themselves from inflation, potentially facing higher running costs themselves and increased wage bills for those employing staff.
We are developing our support to foundations as they respond to the cost of living crisis. To give us a snapshot of the potential impacts for your foundation and charitable mission, how you are approaching these impacts, and what further support you might need, please take a few minutes to answer the eleven questions below.
We are interested at this stage in general issues around the cost of living as it affects individuals and communities (questions 2 and 3) and inflation, including for organisations, grantees and foundations themselves, (questions 4, 5 and 6).
The survey will be closing on Wednesday 31 August 2022.
We will use the findings to inform our work and represent members' concerns. All responses will be anonymised in any public write up of the survey. We will not share any non-anonymised information with outside organisations without your permission.
Please contact policy@acf.org.uk if you have any questions.
