The need for a renewed approach to Leadership & Management Skills among the business community.

The potential to introduce legislation to introduce training leave allowances for Northern Ireland employees. (NOTE: There are examples in other OECD countries which compensate workers, and their employers, for lost working time as training is undertaken)

Introduce a business pledge to recognise and promote employers who actively engage with principles of the work quality indicators. Businesses with 50+ employees must subscribe and actively promote the principles of the ‘Better Jobs Pledge’ prior to engagement with publicly funded support programmes.

The introduction a ‘Lifelong Learning Action Plan’ co-designed with businesses, education institutions and trade unions.

Improving Digital Skills across all parts of the economy/society including business.

A focus on specific clusters in: Digital, ICT and Creative Industries (e.g. Cyber Security), Fintech/Financial Services, Life and Health Sciences (e.g. Personalised Medicine), Agri-Tech, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (e.g. Composites)

Potential to mainstream remote learning provision in key areas of essential skills, employability skills and digital skills for individuals and employers.

Enhanced engagement between employers and the education sector to identify and publicise opportunities for individuals in education to engage with the world of work.
