Welcome to the Music for My Mind Song Survey!

Hello! This is a survey about music and memory put together by the charity Music For My MindMFMM is a charity concerned with music in dementia care, and has the long term goal of making personalised music playlists part of the standard package of care across the UK. Music Therapy is a convenient, enjoyable method of caring for patients suffering from dementia, with potentially huge merits.

What we are trying to discover through this survey is whether there is a period in a person's life where the are most aware of popular music. Knowing this will allow MFMM to narrow in on the songs of those years when introducing music to people living with dementia, hopefully drawing out happy memories of their youths. It will especially help when the person living with dementia does not have family members who can point our music therapists to particular songs, and so this research is indeed vital for those with the greatest of needs.
In this survey you will be shown groups of ten songs, with the artists who recorded them, and asked how many you recognise (a good way of gauging this is whether you can hum the tunes). For each slide, please write in the answer box a number from 0 to 10 reflecting how many of the songs you recognise. Please be as methodical as you can and only put down the number of songs you really recognise, even if you know the artist and assume you must also know the song. Try to spend around 10 seconds per slide, and if you do, it should take no more than 30 minutes. And of course, please also refrain from looking up any of the songs during the survey.

Thank you so much for your participation, it could really make a huge difference in the lives of many suffering from dementia.
