A. An open and welcoming space

A lighter floor finish using Purbeck limestone
  • This will provide a durable, lighter and welcoming open space for worship and events, enable unsightly radiators to
    be replaced with underfloor heating and all pipes and cabling removed from the side walls.

New chairs to replace the existing heavy pews
  • The objective of having an open and flexible area for worship and events is currently constrained by the existing pews.

Relocate the choir screen to the west balcony
  • For the three centuries between the Reformation in the 16th Century and the 1881 reordering, the space between the nave and chancel was clear with an unobstructed view of the altar, the officiating priest and the east window. Relocation will contribute to the open and light nature of the church.
