British Canoeing is beginning the process of developing the next four-year plan (2017-21) for the organisation and would really welcome your contribution at this very early stage. Together we are stronger and so we really want to hear from you.

The strategic plan will guide the development of British Canoeing over the next four years. Because of the remit of British Canoeing, it will impact in some areas of work throughout the UK and in others be focused on delivery in England. It will increase the potential for all parts of the sport (including but not limited to; clubs, coaches, centres, board, home countries, staff, volunteers and committees and commercial partners) to work better together towards the same ambitions and to be clearer about priorities, roles and responsibilities.

This will be a plan for the whole sport – all disciplines and types of canoeing from polo to sprint, freestyle to marathon, touring to white water, open canoe to sea kayaking and for all abilities. It will focus on increasing participation and membership, winning performances, great events and championships and developing coaches and volunteers. It will address key issues such as communications and governance, access and the environment.

The plan will be finalised by the end of December 2016. This is the first of three rounds of consultation. Responses to this survey should be received by Friday, 15th April 2016. The first draft plan will be circulated in May, with several consultation days and a further round of electronic consultation planned through to the end of August 2016. The second draft plan will be circulated in September for further consideration.

We look forward to receiving your comments and views and to working with you to build a brighter future.

Thanks in anticipation.
