Derbyshire Dales District Council has operated Matlock Bath Illuminations since 1984, when the former organising company ran out of money. This 120-year tradition continues through entrance charges and donations from local businesses, and the budget is tight  - one wet weekend can have a massive impact on finances. The Council's aims are simple: to stage an entertaining value-for-money family event that provides a boost to the local economy, and to fund it in the face of rising costs without having to ask local Council Tax payers to make a financial contribution.

Your comments and feedback after recent Illuminations prompted us to reduce the capacity in Derwent Gardens by 2,000. This year we reduced the capacity again by a further 2,000 to allow for better social distancing. Your responses to this survey will help us continue to strive to improve the Illuminations as we start preparing for 2022. Thank you.
