St Lawrence the Martyr - Synod Questionnaire - Jan 2022 |
Pope Francis has all Catholics around the world to respond to the Synod which he called at the end of 2021, and which will end in 2023. Pope Francis has asked us to focus on the decisive theme of ‘The Life and Mission of the Church’.
As a starting point, we are asking parishioners to respond to a few questions which will help our parish, the local deanery, and our diocese reflect on our current journey, and enable us to focus on a development plan in the months and years ahead.
This questionnaire is anonymous.

Questions 1 & 2 deal with COMMUNION: The Church is Catholic because she is sent to all, in order to gather the entire human family from every nation and culture, under the Lordship of Christ and in the unity of his Spirit.
Questions 3 & 4 deal with PARTICIPATION: Participation is based on the fact that all the faithful are qualified and called to serve each other through the gifts they have all received from the Holy Spirit. The authority of pastors is a specific gift of the Spirit of Christ the Head for the building up of the entire Body.
Questions 5 & 6 deal with MISSION: The People of God are on pilgrimage through history towards the heavenly homeland. Each one of the baptised is to be honoured with the same dignity as children of God and appointed to the same mission, the proclamation of the Good News and the building of the Kingdom of God.
