Introduction

Thank you for contributing to this important research into the role and experiences of medical directors (MDs) and chief medical officers (CMOs) at Board level in secondary, community, mental health and health board/integrated systems in the UK. Despite it being 30 years since such roles were established, there remains a huge variation in job descriptions, supporting resources and infrastructure. The aim of this research, led by the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM) and the Business School, City, University of London is to provide valuable insights to allow us to make recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of and support for individuals undertaking these important roles in the future.
 
The questionnaire should take  20 minutes to complete.
 
Please note the following: participants may refuse to answer any questions or withdraw at any time. If you withdraw from the study your answers will not be recorded or assessed. Participants receive no direct benefits from participating although findings from the research will be used to help FMLM provide support to MDs and CMOs. All responses will be completely anonymous and will remain confidential. Any publication of the research will discuss aggregated findings only. Data will be stored on an encrypted and password protected server.
