Thank you for taking part in the BASW survey, to share your thoughts and views and to be part of our collective response.

The Social Work England (SWE) qualifying education and training standards set out the requirements they expect social work education and training courses to meet. Standards are different to rules. SWE’s rules outline what they will do, and their standards set out what they expect those they regulate to do.

The qualifying education and training standards are the standards against which SWE will assess and approve social work education and training courses. The aim is to ensure that students who successfully complete a social work course can meet SWE’s professional standards and can apply to be registered with SWE.

Education and training providers will also need to ensure that their courses are aligned to the new professional standards, which will be implemented from the date SWE commences. You can find more details about this in the professional standards consultation.

The standards are set out on pages 6-17 of the consultation document on Qualifying Education and Training Standards.
