Cables Wynd House (commonly known as the ‘Banana’ flats in Leith) was given Category A listed status in 2017, the highest level of statutory protection available. This means Cables Wynd House has been recognised as possessing “special architectural or historical interest which are outstanding examples of a particular period, style or building type” (Historic Environment Scotland). It was granted listed status as it is among the best of Scotland's post-war mass urban housing schemes.
