About This Seafarer Survey

RMT is surveying Seafarer members to collect up to date information on training and employment issues affecting UK-resident Ratings. The survey is confidential. Please share it with your colleagues.

We know that employers are not training enough Ratings in the UK, despite an ageing workforce and consistent demand. This is because shipowners tend to recruit Ratings from overseas to cut pay and costs, which threatens RMT Seafarers at work today and in the future.

Seafarer members are asked to complete this survey, so that we have quality statistics to reinforce the case for urgent action to train and employ more UK-resident Ratings in talks with Government, employers and training providers.
