Your opinion matters: traffic questionnaire for ITS International readers

Innovative traffic technologies - which ones matter most to you? ITS International has teamed up with Hikvision to find out – but we really need your help. We’re all ears!

In this survey, we would like to know your opinions about how Artificial Intelligence, multi-dimensional perception and Big Data can be used to help manage traffic in different ways.

How can these technological advances help city and highways authorities optimize planning while keeping everyone moving safely?

What are the hurdles and opportunities for today’s traffic management systems? Please fill in the survey to help us build a picture of the key drivers and challenges.

Feel free to skip a question if it’s not relevant to you – but we would love your feedback! Take the survey below…

Question Title

* 1. What do you see as the main use cases for Artificial Intelligence to help organizations improve traffic management? (Select all that apply)

Question Title

* 2. What are the major roadblocks to the rollout of AI technology in traffic organizations? (Select all that apply)

Question Title

* 3. Traffic cameras are becoming more powerful as more perception capabilities - like radar, Lidar and sonar - are added to them. These new cameras shoulder a multitude of tasks that just a few years ago required several different devices. So what kind of cameras do you see as being the most promising and practical in covering multiple tasks?

Question Title

* 4. What are the key advantages of a digitized traffic management system? (Select all that apply)

Question Title

* 5. What are some of the main challenges in bringing together the different sources of available real-time data to improve traffic management? (Select all that apply)

Question Title

* 6. What are the most notable changes in traffic technology investments you have seen recently? (Select all that apply)

Question Title

* 7. What capabilities do you think Artificial Intelligence will bring to the traffic technology sector in the future? (Select all that apply)

Question Title

* 8. Vehicles on the road are getting smarter – so what can be done to make our roads more intelligent?

AI: In video cameras, artificial intelligence plays a dual role in making image analysis possible, but also in improving the quality and reliability of captured footage. In doing so, AI offers new levels of situational awareness and understanding for security teams and other business functions.

MULTI-DIMENSIONAL PERCEPTION: For a long time, video was the one and only perception capacity of Security Systems. Technology has evolved and currently, these systems used other types of "senses", such as radar, listening sensors, thermal sensors, etc. So they can even detect phenomena that are beyond visual range, to identify and respond to security incidents.

BIG DATA: State-of-the-art Big Data infrastructures have opened up new horizons for storing and accessing video data characterized by the 4Vs of Big Data: Volume, Velocity, Variety, and Veracity. In particular, collecting immense volumes of data from multiple cameras, including streaming data with high ingest rates, is now much easier than in the past. Big Data systems provide the means to create and implement video surveillance architectures that scale seamlessly and cost-effectively.
