Would you like to open debate, discussion and reflection to inform practice and policy?

We're seeking ideas for our Iriss Insights series. Insights concisely summarise evidence on a topic of interest to the social work or social care workforce – evidence that can support practitioners to learn and develop their practice.

An Insight:
  • Summarises evidence on a given topic that’s of interest to the social work or social care  workforce
  • Is concise – 3,500-4,000 words max (including references)
  • Is written in plain English
  • Draws out implications for the social work or social care workforce
  • Is peer reviewed
  • Is freely available in electronic formats
We commission Insights – there's a fee attached and deadlines agreed as per contract.

Example: Iriss Insight 62  Addressing the trauma of human trafficking victims in the UK

What you might want to think about….
  • Whether there is sufficient evidence available to warrant an Insight - drawing on published qualitative or quantitative studies, practice guidelines and policy documents. Focus should be on the Scottish context, inclusive of evidence from outside Scotland where this is transferrable and relevant.
  • It meets a need/gap – either to summarise relevant evidence that hasn’t been brought together before, including emergent areas, or to re-frame or re-present evidence in a new way that's helpful to the social work or social care workforce.

We would love to hear from you. Please submit your ideas by Friday, 8 April 2022.
