Healthy Weight Tayside

It is really important to hear and understand your views on the draft child healthy weight strategy ‘HEALTHY WEIGHT TAYSIDE – Where children, young people and families can eat well, drink well and be active 2020-2030’ (the Strategy).  
 
Your views will help shape the action that we all need to take together to promote child healthy weight and, prevent and manage childhood obesity.

The positive impact that eating well, drinking well, being physically active and enjoying the outdoors has on mental and emotional wellbeing has become increasingly apparent during the COVID-19 lockdown period.  To what extent do you agree that Our Vision for the Future ’a Tayside where children, young people and families can eat well, drink well, be active and have a healthy weight’ sufficiently reflects these connections?  (see page 3 of the Strategy)

COVID-19 does not treat us equally.  Poor metabolic health including obesity is strongly linked to worse COVID-19 outcomes.  People who already suffer as a consequence of inequities, such as women and children living in areas of deprivation, are particularly affected by the impact of lockdown and the exacerbation of the food insecurity crisis.  To what extent do you agree that the Calls to Action in Ambition 5 ‘Families and communities in most need are our main concern’ sufficiently address this issue?  (see pages 15 to 16 of the Strategy)
