Welcome to the February 2022 Nightline hotline volunteer training registration form. This form consists of 6 pages and will take about 20 minutes for you to complete. Thanks for your interest in Nightline!
You don't need any prior experience to apply - just enthusiasm and the willingness to help other students. We'd rather give a place to someone inexperienced and passionate over someone experienced who isn't passionate. There are a limited number of places available, and we do unfortunately have to turn students down.
Pre-selection training takes place across 3 weeks and at the end of Week 3 there is an assessment on the practical application of what you've learned. Near misses at the assessment will be offered some bespoke training and the chance to be reassessed.
All training this term will be online, but we will be having a social at the end of Week 3 which includes a walk-around the office!

Applicants can express a preference for which of the following two streams they'd prefer to train in:

Stream 1 (Saturdays, 10-1pm)  05/02/22 12/02/22 19/02/22
Stream 2 (Mondays, 5:30-8:30pm) 07/02/22 14/02/22 21/02/22

All applicants who pass the week 3 appraisal
will then be invited to attend the compulsory post-selection training

Post-Selection Training (Saturday, 11-4pm, Monday, 5:30-9pm) 26/02/22 28/02/22

Please save these dates in your diary now.
London Nightline's service relies on volunteers taking phonecalls and Instant Messages within our Zone 1 office, as well as volunteers working remotely taking Instant Messages. Whilst our service is most reliant on volunteers working within the office, we're also accepting a smaller number of applications from volunteers who can only work remotely. We encourage in particular those who live outside the M25, those with caring responsibilities, those who are shielding from the virus, or those who cannot walk up stairs unassisted to apply for those places. If you tell us that you can volunteer in-person from the start then we will expect this from you.
Please note that we cannot accept volunteering applications from those who live outside of the UK. This is due to health & safety reasons, and the requirement that volunteers are able to contact the emergency services

Please fill out this first page with your basic information. We will use your contact details to contact you about training, so please enter them carefully.

We reserve the right to perform a DBS check. If we perform one, we will cover the cost.
Please note, the final deadline for submitting an application is 17:00 Tuesday 1st of February.
