As the Marylebone Square building nears completion we want to hear your views on the future of the farmers market. Please see the attached plans.

We believe the farmers market has worked so well on the street that it would be best to remain there rather than to move inside what would be a smaller hall. The hall would limit space for stalls and be very difficult to service from Cramer Street. Using the hall for a market just 1 day per week may restrict its use for other community uses on the other 6 days during the week as a market space may not be complimentary for other uses. So our new proposal will deliver the following:

-Farmers Market to continue pretty much as now, but leaving a few more spaces for residential access and emergency vehicle access on Aybrook Street
-Freeing up use of market hall for other activities

-Same number of stalls as current permission – maximum of 52 businesses over 80 pitches ( double stalls etc)- currently around 50 businesses on the market

-Emergency Access still maintained- temporary steward on Aybrook Street junction on Sundays to facilitate any essential access

-Continue with traffic free pedestrian routes to and from Paddington Gardens on Sundays during market hours (no vehicle rat run)

-Continue with an outdoor market; better trading environment for stalls and customers post COVID

-Servicing safer and easier and no congestion caused on Cramer Street reducing impact on residents on Cramer St and Waitrose.
