Your opinion about the plans for Cornhill Walk matters!

As residents of the Brackland and the wider Bury St Edmunds area, we are petitioning West Suffolk Council over the current planning application DC/18/0382/FUL for the redevelopment of the Cornhill Walk Shopping Centre site.

Our principal reasons for objecting are:
The scale of the proposal is far too excessive for the site, as it represents a greater than 50% increase in floor area and a very significant increase in height.
The building will have a disastrous impact on the numerous nearby Listed Buildings and the wider Conservation Area.
The amount of extra traffic generated by 48 flats and large retail units will cause significant damage to the Victorian road network, as well as the health, safety & amenity of both residents and visitors, including the many local children, in what is almost exclusively a residential area.
We are requesting that the West Suffolk Planning Committee do not repeat the mistakes of their 1980’s predecessors on this site and instead, refuse this scheme, requiring the Applicant to produce a smaller, more sensitive scheme as requested by the Committee in March this year.
